In Edmunds performance testing, a front-wheel-drive CX-3 Grand Touring accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds, a quicker than average showing for this segment. In typical Mazda fashion, the CX-3 is one of the sportiest vehicles in the subcompact crossover segment. The Grand Touring's head-up display comes across as an afterthought. The base six-speed manual, front-wheel-drive model starts around $20,000, as do base models of its competitors. Again though, the biggest issues that needs to be addressed in future models is a larger gas tank. The CX-3 comes standard with six airbags (front, front-passenger side, and side curtains), stability control, and the rest of the electronic traction control systems that are now mandatory for 2016 models. While those figures sound a bit skinny, its partly because the CX-3 weighs just 1262kg, only around 40kg more than the petrol. It's significantly less, for example, than Honda's HRV.
